How to cancel Kindle Unlimited

Last reviewed About 2–5 minutes

Kindle Unlimited cancellation is a short process on Amazon's membership management page. Your membership stays active until your next billing date — after that, you lose access to any content you had checked out.

Steps

  1. Open Manage Your Kindle Unlimited Membership

Sign in to your Amazon account on that page.

  2. Select Cancel membership

Find this option under 'Your Membership.'

Things to know

  • You won't receive a partial refund for unused months on a prepaid (gift or bundle) membership.
  • Instead of canceling, you can pause your subscription for one month — the pause starts at the end of your current billing cycle, resumes automatically, and can be resumed early at any time while paused. Pausing isn't available during a free trial or promotional period.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a refund for the rest of my Kindle Unlimited month if I cancel?
No. And if you're on a prepaid gift or bundle membership, you don't get a partial refund for unused months either.
Can I pause Kindle Unlimited instead of canceling?
Yes, for one month at a time. The pause takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, and you can resume anytime while it's active.
When do I lose access to my checked-out books after canceling?
Access continues until your next billing date. After that, books you had checked out become unavailable.
