How to cancel Google One

Last reviewed About 2–5 minutes

Google One is Google's paid storage plan, expanding your quota across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos beyond the free 15 GB. After canceling, your storage and any member benefits stay active through the end of the current billing cycle.

If you are using more than 15 GB across Google services, canceling will eventually restrict your ability to send Gmail, upload to Drive, and back up to Photos. Plan for that before you cancel.

Steps

  1. On Android

Open the Google One app and tap Menu. Go to Settings, then tap 'Cancel membership' and confirm.

  2. On iPhone or iPad (App Store purchase)

Cancel through the App Store: open the App Store, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Google One, then tap 'Cancel Subscription'. Alternatively, go to myaccount.google.com/deleteservices, sign in, select Google One, and delete it from your account.

  3. On a computer (web)

Go to myaccount.google.com/deleteservices, sign in with your Google account, select Google One, and follow the prompts to cancel your plan.

Things to know

  • Your Google One storage and benefits remain active through the end of your billing cycle after you cancel — they do not stop immediately.
  • If your Gmail, Drive, and Photos usage exceeds the free 15 GB limit, canceling will restrict new Gmail messages, Drive uploads, and Photos backups once your paid storage period ends.
  • Metro by T-Mobile customers who cancel Google One lose benefits immediately upon cancellation, not at the end of the billing cycle.
  • Google storage plan purchases are generally non-refundable, though some regions may allow a partial refund for immediate cancellations.
  • If someone else set up your plan through Family Sharing, you can leave the family group, or ask the plan manager to cancel or disable family sharing.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my files in Google Drive when I cancel Google One?
Files already stored in Drive stay in your account. However, if your total usage across Gmail, Drive, and Photos exceeds the free 15 GB, you lose the ability to send Gmail, upload new files to Drive, or back up to Photos until you reduce usage or resubscribe.
Will canceling Google One affect my other Google subscriptions?
Google One storage and any included member benefits (such as Google Home Premium or YouTube Premium if bundled) end with the plan. Separate Google subscriptions billed independently are not affected.
Can I cancel Google One without the app?
Yes. Visit myaccount.google.com/deleteservices, sign in, select Google One, and follow the cancellation steps. No app is required.
